We’re glad you’ve stopped at this page! Serving is a journey, and Discovery Land is a great place to begin or continue your ministry at KAC. We have ministry opportunities as unique as you are. Our team is made up of teachers, classroom helpers, team leaders, greeters, baby rockers, organizers, and everything in between. You simply need a heart to serve and a desire to see kids come to know Jesus as their Savior and grow in Him. Whether you want to work directly with children or are more comfortable in a supporting role, nothing beats knowing that kids are being impacted for the rest of their lives…and for eternity!

We realize that getting started can be overwhelming. Below we’ve tried to answer the questions that we are asked most often. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. What is required to serve in Discovery Land?

Let’s make one thing clear: you do not need to be a children’s ministry guru!  You will be supported and encouraged by staff and volunteer leadership. Every individual who calls KAC their church home is encouraged to be involved in ministry through service.

You do need a heart to serve and the desire to reach kids for Christ. Every volunteer who works with or around children is also required to complete a background check.

My schedule is jam-packed – why should I add in something else?

For most of us, life feels like it is racing by at breakneck speed! It may be hard to think about adding something else to “the list.” I encourage you to talk to the Lord about the activities that you are involved in and the opportunity to invest some of your time resources into the spiritual development of children.

When you join the Discovery Land team, we believe that you will receive far more than you give! Some of the things that you will experience by serving are:

  • Spiritual growth as you prepare each week

  • The satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best to share the love of Christ with children each week

  • The joy of seeing children come to faith in Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with Him

  • Meeting new people, making new friends, and enjoying fellowship with other people who are serving in Discovery Land

What is the time commitment?

This is the beauty of serving! There are ministry positions that require no preparation and just one hour of serving per month. Other positions are a weekly commitment and need an hour or two of preparation each week. You pick the commitment that fits with your current schedule and season of life. Be sure to check out the specific ministry opportunities that we have available.

How do I get involved?

I suggest walking through the following steps:

  1. Ask yourself the following questions:

      • How much time do I have to volunteer?

      • What level of commitment can I make?

      • What gifts, abilities, and resources do I have?

      • What am I passionate about?

    • Pray! Ask the Lord to guide you in your ministry journey and where He would have you serve to best complete His vision for KAC, Discovery Land, and your life.
