Discovery Land (DL) is a Christian education program designed for use by local churches to help children “Discover Eternal Treasures” in God’s Word.  It is a FUN, ENGAGING, and EFFECTIVE way to inspire kids to know and love God.  It specializes in using hands-on learning activities that challenge students to talk about and apply what they learn.  It is strategic and purposeful, and considers the spiritual development of children beginning at birth and continuing through 5th grade.

DL Littles

The Nursery area, which is located adjacent to the Sanctuary, serves newborn through 4 year-olds. Three to 4 year-olds even get to enjoy specialized biblical exploration lessons that include worship songs, art activities, bible verse memorization, puppet shows and more.

DL School Agers

Children start their morning together as one large group during worship and discover time. For the bible lesson time, children are split into two smaller groups (4k through 2nd grade and 3rd through 5th grade), allowing for deeper connection to the Word of God. Application is the key to our program. We not only learn about the Word of God and how to have a relationship with God, but how to apply it to our lives.

Middle School Mountain Movers

New this school year (2023-2024), we are including programming every 3rd Sunday of each month during normal service time (9-10:15am) for our 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Children will start in the Sanctuary, then will be released to the Kiel Youth Center with trained leaders to participate in their very own age-appropriate lessons and activities. This program is designed to encourage, love, and coach students on their journey to becoming resilient disciples.

The DL curriculum was developed to teach students:

  1. THE BIBLE: The big picture of the Old Testament and New Testament as a whole, unified revelation of God’s truth to us.
  2. THE GOSPEL OF JESUS: Salvation by grace through faith as presented throughout the entire Bible.
  3. THE BASICS OF CHRISTIANITY: Life transformation through prayer, worship, evangelism, Scripture memory, baptism, communion, tithing, fellowship, serving, missions, etc.

We desire to teach kids to KNOW what’s right according to God’s word, so they can THINK about what’s right, which will then determine what they DO, resulting in FEELING right and living a victorious life in Christ.

Sunday General Information

Registration – Students may join us in Discovery Land anytime throughout the year. We ask that you stop at the check-in counter and fill out our parent questionnaire so we can get to know you and your child better. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to service to allow plenty of time to check-in your child before we begin.

Class Times – Discovery Land games begin around 8:45 a.m., and class time promptly at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday morning.

Health and Safety – Your child’s health and safety are very important to us. Please see the guidelines below:

Safety – Children must be checked-in and out by a parent and/or guardian. To ensure safety, they will only be allowed to leave once the teacher has communicated directly with each student’s parent and/or guardian.

We screen and do background checks on all staff and volunteers for your children’s protection.

Wellness Policy – If your child has displayed any of the following symptoms within the last 48 hours, please keep him/her with you for the day. Coughing, fever, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, eye discharge, rash, diarrhea, or has a communicable disease.

Allergies – If your child has allergies, please make sure that is on their registration form and let us know when you are checking in your child. It is the responsibility of the parent to make us aware of allergies, as a drink and snack are sometimes provided.
